Worlds of Fun - Department of Security

"Worlds of Fun is a family-themed amusement park with a full-time security program that works closely with the Kansas City Police Department.  One of the benefits of this program is the vast array of training you will receive.  This training will not only help students fulfill summer internship program requirements, it will propel you ahead of the competition for jobs in the future.  Each member of the security team will use the techniques and skills that are learned in the classroom and in the training sessions taught by outside professionals in real-life situations.  Constant contact with the more than one million guests that visit the park(s) every year will allow you to build contacts and communication skills vital for officers in the law enforcement field."

Missouri Department of Conservation - Protection Division

"Students will be introduced to all facets of the Conservation Agent Position, including one on one contact with the public, teaching hunter education, working with the Wildlife Code, patrolling public use areas, fishing clinics, assisting Agents with media programs and newspaper articles, as well as representing the Department at fairs and sports shows throughout the region.  They will be provided the opportunity to work with Agents in the field on enforcement activities, conducting investigations of suspected reported violations, checking commercial permits, routine patrol, plane patrols, and other group patrols.  Interns will be provided the opportunity to work with other divisions in the region; stream bank stabilization monitoring, Resource Science monitoring projects, electrofishing with Fisheries, tree planting, meeting the fish truck, projects with Forestry personnel, private land projects with PLC's, assisting with education programs, and working with the Wildlife Division on public areas.  Students will be expected to work in an integrated team setting with personnel from all divisions to gain an overall perspective of the Department's team approach to public service and to complete the MDC mission."

 

The Washington Center - A Call for Public Service

"The Washington Center provides opportunities for internship placement organizations to work with interns throughout the year.  We work on a quarter and semester schedule and provide three programs each year, spring, summer and fall.  Student interns participate during one of these three quarter/semester programs.  The summer term is a 10-week program while the spring and fall semesters last for 12 weeks (quarter) or 15 weeks (semester).  Students work 4 or 4.5 days a week in their internship."
